Last year’s event raised more than $30,000 for eleven area food pantries. Since 2006, the “Bike For Food” program has raised over $127,000 for area food pantries.
Mark Wiewel, President & CEO of Western Catholic Union, and two sons, Mathew and Mark, will ride their recumbent bicycles to raise money for the food pantries. Donations are appreciated.
Mark and his sons plan to ride nearly 450 miles on trails in Madison County IL To raise money for local food pantries.
Food pantries globally, nationally, and locally are in desperate need of help. This fundraiser hopes to address the local need, as well as bring attention to the growing problem.
Western Catholic Union matches donations up to $500 for each food pantry. In order to qualify for the match, donors should write the word “BIKE” on their check, money order, etc.
The Western Catholic Union is one of 70 fraternal benefit societies in the United States. The WCU provides insurance and annuity products, and also promotes social and charitable activities for the benefit of its members.
