Bike for Food raises $23,000

A local man has helped raise more than $23,000 for area charities with his annual bike ride.

Western Catholic Union President Mark Wiewel biked six days during June 2012 from Dixon to Savanna, Quad Cities and back to Dixon, IL to raise money for Quincy area food pantries.

Wiewel said he rides his bike for charity because he wanted to find a way to raise money while doing something he likes to do.

The 310 mile Bike for Food charity ride through Illinois raised $23,053, but Wiewel said there’s still a great need to help our local food pantries.
