Mark Wiewel and his daughter bike around preparing for their bike ride to raise money for local food pantries.
QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) –Some local Tri-State food pantries can expect a boost in donations thanks to a man pedaling for a cause.
Mark Wiewel with Bike for Food Pantries will be pedaling more than 300 miles starting Saturday to raise money for 12 food pantries. The six day bicycle tour takes place in northern and central Illinois.
Wiewel will ultimately travel 2,400 miles this year, all in an effort to stock the shelves of local food pantries.
“People eat 365 days a year,” Wiewel said. “If I can do a bicycle ride or do my part in helping increase donations for area food pantries, this was something I really, really wanted to do..”
Wiewel will personally match a portion of all donations received. You can help by donating food, cash or a check to one of the 12 food pantries. You can find the list of food pantries here.
